ABOUT

Mick grew up in North West London and began fishing when he was just four years old. He competed at local, national, and eventually international levels. In the late 1980s, his family relocated to Northamptonshire, where they continue to live today. Most of his fishing took place on canals, rivers, or lakes situated on stately home estates.

Everything changed in 1990 with the opening of Heyford Fishery, the country's first custom-built snake lake, which was stocked with small carp, ide, and silver fish. Mick quickly realized that this new environment required specially designed floats to catch fish in the shallow waters along the far bank. He started designing his own unique patterns specifically for this style of fishing. It wasn't long before he discovered there was a strong demand for these specialist floats, as he constantly had a waiting list.

A few years later, Mick took advantage of an early retirement opportunity and became a full-time float maker. Since then, he has remained at the forefront of design innovation, embracing new materials instead of traditional balsa wood. The use of precise and consistent materials led him to switch from shaping wheels to advanced CNC machining and drilling techniques.

Now, two decades later, Mick works at a slower pace but remains passionate about making high-quality floats and continues to innovate. His floats are used by international anglers throughout Europe, and he has developed cutting-edge designs for venues stocked with F1s, as well as catering to the surge in commercial silver fish matches.
